The purpose of prayer and puja from our perspective is done for the Divine but the Divine does not actually need anything, prayer and puja is a gift for all of us. I see the Divine as an infinite ocean of love and compassion that resides within each one of us, it is the glue, so to speak, that unites us all. When we pray or perform a puja it gives us an opportunity to be still and connect with the love within us and share this love with those around us and to the world.

I always loved sacred ceremonies and really didn't mind where they were held whether it was a church or in the forrest, the love for me was palpable and made me feel safe and at home within myself. I didn't always feel happy with myself at other times and so I would always participate whenever I could. Some years ago myself and some friends were given an opportunity to study mantra and puja with a senior priest of Sri Sakthi Amma.

"Puja takes the soul closer to the Divine"

                                                  - Sri Sakthi Amma

Mantras are chanted during the ceremony, these mantras were heard in meditation by ancient sages, they are the sounds of nature and so when they are chanted help us connect to the purity, joy and peace of nature. They can help us to become more resilient, strong and heart centred and heal on many levels.
